Now Hiring Elk Point Building Official: The Building Official is responsible for the protection of the health, safety, welfare, and property values of Elk Point residents through the reasonable and consistent enforcement of city codes and ordinances. The Building Official enforces City codes and ordinances about zoning and housing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Review plans and permits for building construction in Elk Point.
Issues building permits in accordance with the city ordinance.
Conducts necessary inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with municipal codes and ordinances.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Code Enforcement Certification and/or being certified as an International Building Code Inspector is preferred.
Must be able to read architectural plans and understand the permit and building process.
Must have the ability to enforce the provisions of the municipal code with firmness, tactfulness, and impartiality.
Must be able to work in conditions including exposure to noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, and occasional inclement weather.
Requires good interpersonal skills in dealing with other city agencies and the public.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
