Job Details:

• Pay: $18.00 per hour

• Schedule: Part-time

• Location: Elk Point, SD

• Hours: Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm; Sat 9am-Noon

• Summer Hours: Mon-Fri Noon-6pm; Sat 9am - Noon

• Strong people skills, tech savvy, and good with details

• Supervisory and budgeting experience is a bonus

Job Details:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Review plans and permits for building construction in Elk Point.

• Issues building permits in accordance with city ordinance.

• Conducts necessary inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with municipal codes and ordinances. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• A high school diploma or GED is required.  Code Enforcement Certification and/or being certified as an International Building Code Inspector is preferred.

• Must be able to read architectural plans and understand the permit and building process.

• Must have the ability to enforce the provisions of the municipal code with firmness, tactfulness, and impartiality.

• Must be able to work in conditions including exposure to noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, and occasional inclement weather.

• Requires good interpersonal skills in dealing with other city agencies and the public.

• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
